Right Height From the Ground

Once you have determined that there is sufficient space where you’re planning to install the geyser, you need to decide the exact location of the geyser. The geyser must be installed at the correct height from the ground, and it should be away from the bathtub, shower, or toilet. A minimum height of 1.8 meters from the ground is recommended for geyser installation. 

Electrical Connections and Switches

While making the electrical connections for the geyser, make sure that the geyser is connected to a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) that cuts off electricity in case of power fluctuations. This will minimize the chances of any short circuit. Also, keep the switch at a sufficient height away from the children. 

Also, keeping the switchboards outside the bathroom is a good idea; it minimizes the chance of short circuits. Otherwise, you should resort to water-resistant switchboards and install them in a place where water doesn’t reach very often.

Maintenance of the Geyser

Avoid Keeping it on For Too Long. 

People tend to keep the geyser on for too long, thinking that this will help to heat up the water more. But, this is a misconception. The latest models take just five minutes to heat water completely. So, keeping the switch on for a long duration will not heat water more but will surely damage the appliance very soon.

Anode Rod Replacement 

Most of the geysers have an anti-corrosion anode rod inside the tank. The rod attracts rust and other impurities present in the water, thereby preventing the tank from getting rusted. However, because of this, the rod corrodes away after a few years. 

It is advised to keep a check on the anode rod and replace it when the outer layer of magnesium has corroded, and 6 inches or more of the inner steel core is visible. The rod needs a replacement even when it is coated with whitish calcium residues (happens when the water is hard) or its thickness is reduced to below half an inch.
